Japan Visa Application Centre opens in Dhaka, Bangladesh

"We're excited to announce that our Japan visa service is now available in Bangladesh! Applicants can visit our state-of-the-art Visa Application Centre in Dhaka for a seamless start to their journey," VFS Global said in a statement.

Japan Visa Application Centre (VAC) in Dhaka started its operations on Sunday, 3 November, 2024 according to VFS Global.

It is offering applicants an "efficient and streamlined" application submission service. Appointments booked through the Embassy of Japan in Dhaka will be honoured for those already scheduled until December 26, said the VFS Global.

CA urges EU states to shift visa centres from Delhi to Dhaka or neighbouring country

"As India restricts visas for Bangladeshis, many students are unable to go to Delhi to get visas for Europe. As a result, they face uncertainty about their education. If the visa offices are moved to Dhaka or a neighbouring country, both Bangladesh and the European Union will benefit," he said.

Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus today (9 December 2024) requested diplomats of the European Union (EU) member states to shift their visa centres from New Delhi to Dhaka or a neighbouring country.

He made the request during a meeting with EU diplomats at his office in Dhaka's Tejgaon, reads a statement from the CA's press wing. Foreign Affairs Adviser Touhid Hossain, who was present at the meeting, said Bulgaria has already shifted its visa centre for Bangladeshis to Indonesia and Vietnam. He urged other countries to follow the same process.

Russia to increase the number of scholarships for Bangladeshi students

The Facebook post from the Russian Embassy further requested applicants to only use Yandex or Outlook e-mail accounts for registration and document submission.

Russia is increasing the number of educational scholarships for students from Bangladesh to 200 places in the 2026/27 academic year.

The Embassy of the Russian Federation in the People's Republic of Bangladesh, through a Facebook post, invited students from Bangladesh to apply for free education in Russia through the website www.education-in-russia.com until January 15, 2026. The platform offers more than 20,000 educational programmes at over 400 Russian universities.
